Terms and Conditions
By completing the payment to wander beyond campers, the customer agrees to these Terms and Conditions.
Travel is allowed in the U.K only.
Collection and return of the camper van is from and to our premises at
Milton Brooke Estate, Barrow Ln, Chester CH3 7HW
During the period of hire Wander Beyond Campervans can store 1 vehicle per hire/customer at owners own risk.
Camper Van Insurance
Drivers must be between the ages of 23 and 75 years with more than 2 years driving experience (i.e. you have held a full driving license for a period of 2 or more years).
We reserve the right to cancel your Rental Agreement if at the date your period of hire begins you have more than 6 penalty points on your driving license or you have any convictions on your driving license. You must disclose to us all endorsements including any pending ones prior to the commencement of the hire period.
The camper vans are only to be driven by those insured to drive it. Two named drivers can be insured to drive the camper vans.
The camper vans are fully comprehensive insured for the vehicles and any equipment that belong to the camper van, and for the first and any other named driver. Your personal belongings and contents are not covered and you are advised to take out your own contents and travel insurance.
We are not responsible for any loss from the camper van nor are we responsible for any damage in connection with any breakdown or accident.
Do not leave valuables on show, Wander Beyond Campervans cannot except responsibility for lost or stolen items.
Our insurance policy protects us and any authorized driver against legal claims from any other person for death or personal injury or damage to any other persons’ property caused by use of the camper van on the road, on condition you report all such incidents to us during the hire period or on return of the camper van, and you are using the camper van within these terms and conditions and those of our insurance company.
In the event that any third party suffers personal injury, death or damage to property caused by use of the camper van which involves a breach by you or any other authorised driver, of any of these terms and conditions or of our insurance policy, you agree to reimburse us if we are obliged to compensate the insurers for any payment they make to a third party on your behalf and/or any third party.
Each driver will need to provide us with BOTH parts of their driving licence – the Photo Card and the The DVLA license summary (this is obtained from the DVLA website )
2 recent utility bills are also required. The issue date needs to be within 90 days before the hire start date.
You must have/provide ALL 3 of these documents for our insurance purposes or you will not be able to hire the camper van and we may cancel your Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment
A non-refundable deposit of £250 is needed at the time of booking.
Once we have received your booking and a non-refundable £250 deposit, we will send you a booking confirmation. The full hire balance will be due 6 weeks prior to commencement of the hire period and a £500 – (£750 for Glastonbury or drivers under rhe age of 25), Security Bond (your Insurance Excess) must be paid on the day of hire via a credit/debit card pre authoriasation of £500 or £750 , this is to cover against any damage while the camper van is in your possession. In the event of an accident which is your fault and means the campervan is out action whilst its repaired and the next customer misses the hire then you will be liable.
A booking is not confirmed until the booking form has been completed, the deposit received (and payment cleared) and a receipt and confirmation of the booking are sent to you by us.
Security Bond
This will be returned to you in full when you return the camper van to us in the same good condition in which it was hired out to you.
Any damage or breakages to the camper van interior or exterior, costs for any repair, special cleaning or replacement will be taken out of this bond including the £500 (£750 for Glastonbury or European travel) excess in the case of an accident or the need to claim on our insurance. You irrevocably authorise us to deduct from the security bond any amounts owed by you to us under this agreement.
Cancellation
The £250 deposit made at the time of booking is non-refundable.
In the event of any cancellations, you must contact us by telephone and then confirm your cancellation to us in writing.
If reservations are cancelled within 45 days of the start of the hire period there is a cancellation fee payable by you of 50% of the total hire charge (in addition to the non-refundable deposit)
If reservations are cancelled within 7 days of the start of the hire period there is a cancellation fee of 100% of the total hire charge (in addition to the non-refundable deposit).
We accept no responsibility and will not pay any compensation, costs or expenses where the performance of these Terms & Conditions by us is prevented or affected or you otherwise suffer any damage or loss as a result of events no matter whom they are caused by or howsoever they arise.
However if for any unforeseen reason/circumstance we have to cancel your booking we will offer you the choice of an alternative camper van (if available) or a refund of monies received by us. We will not have any other liability to you.
No refunds are payable on accommodation or vans not being available where you change, cancel or seek to vary this agreement after you collect your vehicle from us.
We take no responsibility for loss, damage or any detention that you might experience no matter whom it is caused by or howsoever it may arise.
Covid 19 policy
If you have booked your camper van and your area or the pick up location goes into lockdown meaning non essential travel is not allowed then you have the option to change your dates to a later time to avoid the restrictions.
No refunds will be offered due to changes in governments travel restrictions, we will offer a free date change for your booking to dates of your choosing subject to availability.
When government restrictions requires us to, we wear masks when you come to pick up your camper and kindly ask you do also to keep in line with the coronavirus restrictions.
We also thoroughly clean our campers with 99.9 % bacteria disinfectant before each hire departs.
Our campers may only be used within coronavirus government restrictions guidelines – Please check the government website for info on the current restrictions regarding coronavirus.
What equipment is supplied in our campers ?
Wander Beyond campers supply in all our campers
Kitchen equipment: GAS kettle, a frying pan, splatter guard for frying and 2 small cooking pans.
As standard we will still provide a fridge/freezer, which works off a leisure battery and hook up with a campsite, a sink with running water and a 2-ring burner, a hook up cable, level blocks, a water hose for filling the fresh water tank and a external grey water tank.
Bedding bring mattress protectors for each double bed, any stains on the beds will be cleaned and paid for from your bond.
Good Driving of the Campervan
Your camper van’s top speed is 70 mph and we ask you not to exceed this. Any speeding tickets or parking tickets will be forwarded on to you with an admin fee of £50. The campervan is fitted with a speed monitor device.
The Alloy wheels on the camper are very expensive and easily damaged please take car when parking near a curb as mounting the curb will damage the wheel, any damage caused to the wheels will be subject to the deduction from the damage bond.
Wander beyond Campervans welcomes well behaved pets in our campervans, however, when pets are left unattended they must be put in a secure crate or cage and not, under any circumstances, be left to roam freely alone in our campervans, or be on the seats.
Smoking is not permitted in our camper vans or awnings at any time.
The cost of any damage caused by smoking or pets will be recovered from the damage bond.
Health and Safety
When operating the camper van and its appliances and/or using any equipment in the camper van or awning you must follow health and safety guidelines.
You must carry only as many passengers as there are seat belts for in the camper van. You are legally responsible for using and obtaining a child/baby seat. You must use a booster seat for each child under 135cms (4’5” inches approximately) or under 12 years of age.
Condition
You and us will check together the condition of the camper van at the start and end of the hire period. We will provide a record showing agreed defects. During the hire period you acknowledge that you will be responsible for any damage or loss to the camper van, its documents, accessories or parts arising during the hire period.
Collection and Return
On arrival to collect your camper van please ensure you allow enough time (approx 30/45mins) for us to show you around the camper van and how to operate the cooker, sink, bed, roof etc.
we will also need to complete the paperwork during that time.
We ask that you please return the camper van by the agreed time, and allow sufficient time to return our camper van back to us so that you do not push the camper van too hard trying to get back in a hurry.
Late Return
If you are delayed in returning the camper van back to us you must telephone to inform us, as you may not be insured for your additional time on the road.
If the camper van is returned to us later than the agreed time without prior agreement a £20 per hour charge will be payable. This will be deducted from your security bond. By signing this agreement you agree to us making such deductions from your security deposit.
Fuel
When you collect the camper van it will have fuel and it must be returned to us with the same amount of fuel or the cost of refueling will be taken out of your security bond at £2.50 per litre.
Our camper vans only take diesel fuel, any wrong fueling will result in the cost to put it right being taken from the bond.
Mileage allowance
For travel in the UK during your campervan rental period 1000 miles per week, 1500 per 10 days, 2000 per 2 week hire and 500 per weekend/mid week hire are included in the event you use more than this there will be a charge of 50p per mile.
Camping Gas
Gas is provided for the cooker. We will meet the cost of one additional gas cylinder on production of a valid v.a.t receipt
Keys
In the event that keys are damaged or lost you will be liable for the reasonable costs of obtaining a replacement and further costs if directly related to theft of the camper van. This cost for this will be taken from your bond.
Cleaning
Allowing for fair wear and tear, if the camper van requires more than our standard cleaning on its return to restore it to its pre-rental condition you agree that we are entitled to charge you an additional cost of at least £50.00.
Do’s and Dont’s
You agree that you:
Understand that we are not liable to you, any passenger(s) or any authorized drivers for loss of or damage to any property left in the camper van during or after the hire period.
Will be responsible to us for the cost of making good any damage caused to the camper van by improper use
Understand that any damage to the exterior or interior of the camper van, living or cooking equipment will be charged to you in all cases.
You agree that you shall not:
Push or tow any vehicle, trailer or other object.
Carry more passengers than the seating capacity of the camper van .
Allow the camper van to be overloaded
Drive when/if the camper van is overloaded or when loads are not correctly secured.
Drive off-road, on UN-surfaced roads or on any roads unsuitable for the camper van
Park or drive in contravention of any traffic or other regulations
Undertake driving training activity
Drive or be driven in any restricted areas including, but not limited to, airport runways, airport service roads, and associated areas
Take part in any test, race , rally or other contest
Carry any object(s) or substance(s) which by its smell or condition may harm the camper van and/or delay or interfere with our ability to rent/hire the camper van to other people
Use the camper van to carry goods for passengers for reward or hire
We will not be responsible if the camper van you have hired gets stuck on any unsuitable ground, e.g. fields, etc. it will be your responsibility to recover the vehicle to suitable ground at your expense. You will also be liable for any damage towing, to recover the camper van, please bear this in mind when entering a camp-site, festival etc.
We Reserve the Right To:
Refuse camper van hire to any person(s)
Refuse camper van hire should the driver have any convictions or pending penalties or other endorsements on their driving licence not previously disclosed to us. In the event that this should happen all payments made by will be lost
Cancel hire of the camper van if the driver’s licence does not comply with our standard terms and conditions. In the event of this happening all the monies paid by you will be lost (less the £500/£750 bond)
Claim repair and/or cleaning costs from the bond
Retain the full deposit payment until all/any damage has been assessed and valued
Offer an alternative camper van if, because of an event beyond our control, your camper van of choice is not available. If this is not acceptable we will only return the security bond and hire monies but not your deposit.
Cancel hire of the camper van if we deem some destinations or events unsuitable for our camper van(s)
Our Obligations
We will supply/provide the camper van to you in good, overall operating condition, complete with all necessary parts, accessories and documents. You agree to return the camper van to our premises in the same condition in which you hired it (subject to fair wear and tear) with the same parts, accessories and documents, at the same location and on the date and time designated by us. Failure to do so may result in further charges becoming payable by you.
Prohibited Use of Camper Vans
You are authorised to drive the camper van on the terms of these conditions and you must use the vehicle in a responsible manner at all times. If you do not comply with these conditions, you will be liable to us for any liability or loss incurred by us, or damages or reasonable expenses we incur or suffer as a result of your breach. You may also additionally lose the benefit of any waivers or insurance selected by you. If you are in breach of this agreement we reserve the right to take back the camper van at any time at your expense.
You must look after the camper van and make sure it is secure and parked in a safe place and that is locked with the alarm on and the front taken off the stereo when not in use.
Loss and / or Damage
You will be liable to us for all costs and losses incurred by us in the event of damage, loss, theft of the camper van its parts and accessories while on rental/hire, if this damage, theft or loss involves deception of you or another party, or as a result of the keys remaining in the vehicle whilst it is unoccupied, or was caused intentionally by you or a member of your party. Your liability may include the cost of loss in value of the camper van, the cost of repairs, loss of rental income, towing and storage charges and an administration charge, which recovers our costs for handling any claim arising from damage caused to the vehicle unless responsibility for the damage lies with us or has been determined by a third party or their insurers to lie with a third party. You will also be liable for damage or loss of any entertainment equipment contained in the camper van, i.e. CD player etc. (cover for these items is not provided by our insurers). Also if the radio is left on whilst the camper van engine is not running for example in a campsite etc and the battery goes dead you will be responsible for a new battery as the main battery (which is connected to the stereo is not meant to be drained as a leisure battery is and the engine will not start.
Accidents, Vandalism and Theft
You must (where possible) report any traffic accidents involving the vehicle to the police and to us immediately. In any event you must report loss, theft or damage involving the vehicle to us within 48 hours of the incident or discovery of the incident. You will need to return to our premises, at your own cost, but preferably with the AA recovery service returning your original/hired camper van.
A theft or accident report form must always be completed and submitted to us when you return the camper van. You must return the keys to us in the event of theft.
Breakdown
All our camper vans are fully covered for recovery. If you have any difficulties in the event of breakdown you must report these immediately to us on 07581 220912, recovery or repair services will then be provided.
Subject to availability a replacement camper van may be offered if available.
We cannot accept liability for any costs losses damages or expenses arising from breakdown, accident or any other cause e.g. travel, accommodation, replacement vehicle costs etc. Our liability extends to either replacing your camper van or refunding your hire charge for any days you may lose the total use of the vehicle. You will need to return to our premises at your own cost, but preferably with the AA relay service returning your original camper van. If you are not returning with the AA relay service you will have to hand the keys for the camper van to the AA recovery vehicle driver.
Charges
Additional charges may arise from your use of the camper van during the hire period and may include damage, loss of/or to the vehicle and its contents, the insurance excess, fuel cost and refueling service charge, late return charge, extra cleaning charge and any road tolls or fines for charges arising from traffic or parking offenses during the hire period. All charges are subject to final calculation after the expiry of the hire period. You authorize us to take money from the bond to cover any of the above charges, and in the event of a toll, speed camera fine, parking ticket or road tolls not paid being issued after the rental period, you agree to take ownership of said charges and agree to pay the issuer without question. By agreeing to these terms and conditions you authorize wander beyond campers to provide your details to any police force, council or private parking company that has issued a fine or charge while the camper was in your possession.
Pop top roof use
The pop top & bed is very expensive and needs careful use if the pop top or bed is not used properly as shown in the detailed handover then any cost for repairs will be taken from the bond and you authorize us to claim from you further damages if the cost is more than the bond.
Release and Indemnity of Wander Beyond Campervans
You release us from any liability to you (regardless of who is at fault), for any damage or loss incurred by you by reason of possession, rental or use of the vehicle/camper van.
Any indemnity required of you shall not operate to indemnify us in respect of any negligent act by us fully.
You hereby fully indemnify and shall keep fully indemnified us against any demands, claims or expenses (including legal costs) incurred or sustained by you by reason of your use and/or possession of the vehicle/camper van
Engine Care
All our camper vans are fitted with tracking devices which enables us to track in case of theft and to also monitor and report any aggressive driving using accelerometers. If there is any damage or break-down caused by your own actions, you will be liable for the cost of replacement/repairs required. Our tracker report will and can be used as evidence to this effect. This would cover things such as putting petrol in a diesel engine or pushing the engine too hard. This list is not exhaustive. You must check the oil and other gauges beyond 500 miles, refilling as necessary. Your agreement will show the mileage on your camper van on the day of collection. If you cause any damage to the engine through driving too fast i.e. over 70 mph over too long a period of time, and ignoring the warning lights, you will be liable for any repairs required or even the cost of a replacement engine.
Personal Data
When you book your camper van, we collect personal information such as your name, address, telephone number or email and this allows us to book the camper van and insurance for you. We reveal your personal information to our insurance company. We comply with the provisions of the Data Protection Act.
Liabilities
You are liable for all fines, all road tolls, legal penalties e.g. parking tickets, speeding, which are incurred during the period of the hire. Any charges subsequently notified to us, will be immediately deducted from your security bond or invoiced to you and we will require payment within 14 days. You are liable for any damage above cab height; you are fully responsible for damage caused by failure to assess the height of the vehicle and striking overhead or overhanging objects. You will indemnify us from any liability caused by damage to overhanging or overhead objects and subsequent damage to third parties and their property.
You must use the camper van and its contents responsibly and comply with our instructions and health and safety guidelines. Where no instructions or guidelines or advice are given you must assume that ‘normal’ and ‘common sense’ rules apply. By signing this agreement you agree to accept this/all terms of above.
Breaches of these Terms and Conditions
If you commit a breach of these terms and conditions we have the right to terminate your booking and if you are already in the camper van we may require you to vacate immediately. In the event of you breaching these terms and conditions no refund(s) of the fees you have paid to us will be made. You will also be liable for any costs incurred in returning the camper van to our premises.
Choice of Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms & Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the Law of England and Wales and each party agrees to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts or England and Wales.
Severance
If any term or provision of these Terms & Conditions shall in whole or in part be held to any extent to be illegal or unenforceable under any enactment or rule of law that term or provision or part shall to that extent shall be deemed not to fall part of these Terms & Conditions but the enforce ability of the remainder of these Terms & Conditions shall not be affected.
Small Print
We offer the camper vans/vehicle including any replacement vehicle to you subject to these Terms & Conditions and which incorporate all the information and conditions contained on the booking form that you must sign. In making this rental you accept all the terms and conditions and confirm that you will strictly comply with them.
The obligations and rights contained in these terms and conditions govern your use of our camper van/vehicle and are not transferable by you. You acknowledge that the camper van/vehicle is owned by us and that any attempted transfer or sub-rent of the camper van/vehicle by anyone other than us is prohibited and is a criminal offence. We permit you to use the camper van/vehicle on the terms and conditions of this agreement only.
The words used in this agreement (except where otherwise stated) carry their usual meaning. In particular:
“security bond”- the sum of £500 ( £750 for Glastonbury or drivers under the age of 25 )as detailed.
“the camper van” – this mean the VW camper van hired to you by us and as specified to you by us.
“the vehicle”- this means the VW camper van hired to you by us and as specified to you by us.
“Us” meaning wander beyond campers employees or owners.
“the rental agreement”, “terms and conditions” and “the agreement” – this agreement and any other document(s) expressly referred to in this document including any insurance documents
The Terms and Conditions are in place for your protection as well as ours.
By completing your payment to wander beyond you agree that you have read and understood, and agree to Wander Beyond Campers terms and conditions. A copy of these terms and conditions is on our website www.wanderbeyond.co.uk
